How to save your canon eos 500d battery charge

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Some of my best professional photographers in UK commented this issue

One 1

Without knowing exactly how you use your camera, I can only comment on my experience with my T1i. On a typical full day of shooting, I may use the flash a few times, as well as the occasional use of live-view. I shoot exclusively in manual mode, with image quality set to RAW. That being said, I can easily get 500+ shots with a single, fully charged battery. If you use live-view a lot, you can certainly expect to drain the battery much quicker. If you're not heavily using live-view or the flash, you may, indeed, have a bad battery. However, if you are taking extremely long exposures, that could also explain the quick battery drain.

Two 2

I use the grip and two batteries so I can't really answer this question. I haven't seen mine drop from Maximum charge, even after shooting a full wedding with it...

Three 3

Not sure compared to other Rebels, but I've been impressed. I've used lower end Canon cameras with AA's and with a custom batteries and they all seemed to die quickly. Best luck I had was with Lithium AA's which were pricey.

The T1i seems to last forever compared to these. I can easily get a few 100 in using the flash less than 10% of the time.

Forth 4

I am finding the battery impressive to be honest. I bought two, travelled to London expecting to need both batteries and I am still on the first battery even with recording some video.
